Shelves for the Home
Bathroom Shelving, Storage Units and Cabinets including Over Toilet Storage
The bathroom is one room that, in most homes, does not seem to attract too much clutter that does not really belong there. There cannot be many kids who come indoors and store their bike in the bathroom, especially if it is upstairs! However, that is not to say that every bathroom is kept perfectly neat and tidy.
It is not unusual to see a few things scattered around the bathroom that do not seem to have a particular home for storing purposes. Mostly, though, they are relatively easy to sort out, especially if you own the home and can put up bathroom shelves wherever you desire.
The types of things you expect to find in the bathroom are soaps, shampoos, tubes and toothpaste, as well as face flannels, towels, gourds, and so on. In other words, items that are of practical use in your home’s “cleansing department”. In a larger bathroom, you might have space for a large cupboard to house spare towels, ready for use should there be no towel available on the rail.
For smaller spaces, though, we mostly need to make clever use of limited space, all the while ensuring that what you need is easily reached when shampooing your hair, shaving, and for other bathroom habits.
Bathroom storage units come in various forms. A cabinet over the wash basin, with sufficient space for the family's essentials, is often one of the main storage solutions, for that part of the bathroom at least. A mirror on front of the cabinet can be a bonus. Some families may need a second cabinet, or separate bathroom selves to neatly accommodate everything needed for convenience. Accessories such as soap dishes and toothbrush racks can help you sort out the odds and ends that may all too easily just be dumped on the back of the wash basin.
Over toilet storage is a great space saver. Individual shelves, shelving units and over toilet cabinets are all worth considering, and some of the combined units are quite attractive too, thus enhancing your bathroom decor while adding to the storage space.
If you have a shower unit or area set aside for showering, you may need separate shelving of some sort for that part of the bathroom., or even another cabinet if space allows. If you are fitting out a new bathroom, then separating the shower area from the rest of the room by a tiled wall, with lots of space on top to double as a shelf, is one solution that I will be building into our new bathroom. Be sure to get the height right for the whole family, though!
Generally speaking, the bathroom is one of the easiest rooms in a home to make “tidy proof. It is certainly much easier than planning your kitchen cabinets and storage. Popular brands to look out for are Polder and Zenith, but you may just find what you need in the local store.
